Jon Hester
As a fan of electronic music from both sides of the decks, Jon Hester embraces
tracks suited for the mood at hand. With this discerning momentum, he walks a
line between techno purism and the raw energy of a moody dance floor. His
productions take a nod from years of classical music training and endless hours
of dancing like nobody?s watching. Hester?s DJ sets can include anything from
peak time techno and body-rocking house to smooth, deep soundscapes,
complimented with outboard effects and live saxophone. Jon rises to each
occasion with an engaging presence, a passionate connection with his audience,
and a knack for telling a story. He programs dynamic, memorable sessions that
give each moment a purpose. From pulse-pounding exhilaration to afterhours
grooves, he is adept at taking the listener on a journey. In additiion to his riveting
musical prowess, his proformance technique is uncanny and evokative.
Participants in this musical endeavour can expect to find Jon dancing behind the
mixer, wearing masks and stage makeup; or even wielding whistles, air horns, or
flowers. He stirs up the party, a true showman and man of the people.
It was not long after joining forces with the Midwest?s Intellephunk and
Microhouse Minneapolis that he launched his own party concept, Convergence.
Acting as promoter, designer, host, and resident DJ, he has produced a prolific
breadth of memorable dance music events. From dressed up hot spots to
underground sweatboxes, Jon Hester and the inexhaustible Convergence brand
maintain. The next chapter for Jon: Convergence Spain and EPs on various
